Liechtenstein Gorge, St. Johann
Liechtenstein Gorge in St. Johann - a Mystical Natural Wonder
The thundering waterfalls and torrential masses of water have cut their way deeper and deeper into the ravine over the course of millennia. In some places, the rock walls of Liechtenstein Gorge now stand so high and so close together, that the sky is only barely recognizable as a thin strip of light high above.
As early as 1875, people were so fascinated by the gorges natural splendor, that Prince Liechtenstein donated money to have bridges and walkways constructed, thus making the gorge accessible to a broader public.
Since then, around 7 million people from around the world have visited this place that is so interwoven with tales and legends. It is hard to imagine a single visitor who is not fascinated by the almost ghostly play of light and shadow in its depths and narrows, or who could fail to leave Liechtenstein Gorge with anything other than lasting impressions.
